So you can email a Pages file and everything is "in it." Whereas an InDesign file doesn't embed anything, and is largely just text and formatting data, and a collection of links to outside files. Conversely, InDesign merely links to the graphic's file.
No, because Pages embeds the graphic, as it's pasted, into the doc itself. I don't need anything as fancy (or expensive) as Illustrator, just a clean simple app for object graphics that supports shapes, pattern fills, bezier curves, and insertion of bitmap images. Then there's the question of choosing a new object graphic app. Can an object graphic be edited (using its creator app) after it's been inserted into a Pages document? What support does Pages have for incorporating object graphics into a document? I assume the graphic needs to be created externally then imported. One feature I like most about WP is how easy it is to create object (vector) graphics right inside the document. What a relief that I required a Macintosh as a condition of my employment there. I'll never forget working for one PC-centric employer many years ago, where coworkers would sit and try to create documents with fully half of their screens obscured by row after row of pointless toolbars filled with cryptic icons. With the abandonment of Classic (on Intel) I will be forced into something else, which I can guarantee will not be MS Word. Clean, simple, and efficient, it's a great example of quality MacOS software.
Selecting a region changes the language and/or content on 've been using WordPerfect Mac for a decade, and to me it's always been the best word processor ever created.
On Japanese systems, differences in character sets may prevent text that was entered in Windows from appearing on-screen in macOS. Missing fonts and font styles-including fonts that have the same name but different formats (Type 1, TrueType, or CID)-may cause unexpected results. Note: When importing text from Microsoft Word and RTF files, make sure that the fonts used in the file are available on your system. You can also set encoding and formatting options when importing text from a plain text file. For example, text from an RTF file retains its font and style specifications in Illustrator. One advantage of importing text from a file, rather than copying and pasting it, is that imported text retains its character and paragraph formatting. Plain text (ASCII) with ANSI, Unicode, Shift JIS, GB2312, Chinese Big 5, Cyrillic, GB18030, Greek, Turkish, Baltic, and Central European encoding Microsoft Word for macOS X, 2004, and 2008
